Momeni Inc., takes the lead in the AmericasMart® expansion charge and breaks ground on its new 13,500 square foot showroom this month, marking it as the largest single showroom in the Area Rug product center. In its new location, Momeni will be the anchor showroom on Floor 5 of Building 1 at AmericasMart®—where the area rug business does business. To accommodate this expansion, AmericaMart® will redesign the floor, creating new showrooms and extended growth for existing and new exhibitors. July 15, 2008 – Los Angeles, CA: …Call it a gift show within a gift show: this year marks the first time that a local collaborative of Los Angeles neighborhood businesses will participate in the California Gift Show. The recently formed La Cienega South Design and Art District (LSDAD) is a group of companies that complement one another in the design and art world that are based in and around La Cienega Boulevard South in Culver City. LSDAD will set up shop along side over 1,000 other exhibitors that will attract over 2,500 product lines for an anticipated 20,000 attendees at this year’s show. AmericasMart® Atlanta exhibitors were honored for outstanding visual display and recognized for growth during the July 2008 Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market® and Atlanta International Area Rug Market®. More than 50 permanent showrooms throughout the three-building campus celebrated a new or newly expanded space with ribbon cutting ceremonies, while 31 permanent showrooms and 22 temporary booths were rewarded for their creative efforts, including use of space, product display and placement, signage, flooring and lighting. Javits Convention Center; Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 and 94 and Metropolitan Pavilion. Participants in the show’s 155th semi-annual edition included buyers from all 50 states and more than 75 countries, as well as over 2,900 exhibitors, 400 of which were first-time participants in the Fair. Handmade Showcases Authentic Craft

Beginning in August 2008, the NYIGF Handmade division will emphasize individual artisanry through visual cues spotlighting some 200+ designer-makers. “This effort, to better distinguish designer-makers from production craft, comes in response to buyer and exhibitor feedback,” said Belshaw. “This identification of designer-makers will give buyers an opportunity to meet the artists and to engage them about their influences and techniques.” (more…)
