Forms influenced by botanicals, the ocean and the elements

Jessica Lee Designs™ was founded on the concept that the most beautiful art comes from objects already in the world. Jessica uses the highest quality silver to create innovative, handmade jewelry from materials gathered from the sources around her. Repurposed materials give Jessica’s pieces a range in design from organic to bold and modern.

It takes seven years for the waves to tumble the sea glass and sea pottery, handpicked by Jessica Lee’s staff, on the California coast. Vintage pottery and recycled stained glass found at antique and thrift stores are hand shaped by craftspeople in Bali. Jessica Lee’s forms are influenced by botanicals, the ocean and the elements, and by the art of Lalique, Mondrian and Jasper Johns, the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright and music of every kind. Of course, her immediate loves are a continual source of revelation: Her children, McKenna and Wylder, her dog Disco, and her love of traveling and creating.

From Santa Cruz to Bali, fair trade and a great sense of pride

Born to artist parents who encouraged her inventiveness from an early age, Jessica began making jewelry at the age of sixteen. She took her passion to the next level by studying design, metalworking and sculpture in San Francisco. Jessica’s broad range of study influenced the way she approaches jewelry today: An art form that is at once striking and wearable.

Jessica’s work with repurposed materials began in Santa Cruz, California where she currently has a studio. Since then, Jessica’s design capability has expanded globally. She now travels extensively to her studio in Bali, Indonesia. There, she works closely with local silversmiths at a fair trade rate, giving her a great sense of pride at being able to provide jobs to many families in Bali.

Today, she has begun working with glass casting in her California studio, experimenting with new organic forms, colors and textures. Jessica looks forward to an exciting new line of jewelry using silver casts, glass casts and handmade art pottery by Cory and Kristine in Arizona, debuting at the Summer 2008 New York International Gift Fair®.
